Praising God from A to Z - Day 16

The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
2 peter 3:9
Many of us are not good at practicing patience. We hate waiting in lines at the grocery store so when God calls us to wait for something far less trivial, whether it be for a loved one to come to the Lord or a change in diagnosis, we can easily get antsy and wonder if God will ever show up. But here’s the thing, he is already showing up even if you don’t see it. Sometimes it takes years later to look back and see his hand in those difficult seasons but he has not left you. So even when we are not patient with him, he is patient with us. Another thing I am reminded of with this verse is a sermon I heard recently that addressed God’s promises. The pastor said something about how we should want the promiser (God) more than the promise. I just love that because it is what I have learned after struggling several years waiting for certain circumstances to be different. Once I finally stopped focusing so much on those circumstances and how I wanted God to bring me out of them and began shifting my focus to just HIM, I found more peace and patience in the wait. Not to say that I have perfected the art of waiting. I have days where I still get impatient but I am grateful that God continues to show His patience toward me on my not so good days. So remember how God shows his patience towards you today and thank him for being patient even when you are not.
